CHILDREN’S THERAPEUTIC SERVICES AND SUPPORT (CTSS)
Brief description of program: The CTSS program provides in-home mental health services to children diagnosed with mental illness and their families. We use a systems approach, as the participation of family in the process will produce the greatest chance for success. We are available to meet with families in their homes, the child’s school, daycare or another appropriate community location. Patients Served: Children, adolescents, and their families (ages 5 – 20) diagnosed with mental illness affecting two or more of the following areas: home, school, and community.
- Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports, is a flexible package of mental health services provided to children and their families.
- CTSS addresses the symptoms of emotional disturbance that impair and/or interfere with an individual’s ability to function at a typical developmental level.
- The services are time limited and are delivered using a combination of services designed to reach the goals outlined by the individual therapist.
- CTSS services are provided by mental health professionals and practitioners, 2-5 hours per week, in-home, school, or other community setting
WHAT SERVICES ARE COVERED?
PSYCHOTHERAPY
- Face to face treatment of client’s mental health issues
- Quality, proven interventions to address the child’s concerns
CRISIS ASSISTANCE
- Recognition of factors that come before the mental health crisis
- Identification of behaviors related to the crisis
- Education about available resources to resolve the crisis
- Support to resolve crisis situation
SKILLS TRAINING
- Skills training are designed to assist the client in reaching behavioral developmental milestones.
- Skills are defined as activities or behaviors that must be practiced in order to be mastered and maintained.
- Skills can be adapted to many different situations.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible for CTSS, a client must work with their provider to determine the need for the in home skills work in their individual treatment plan.
An eligible client must be:
- A child under age 18 diagnosed with an Emotional Disturbance (ED) or meet Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) criteria
- A young adult age 18 through 20 diagnosed with Mental Illness (MI) or meet Serious or Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) criteria
- Medical Assistance and pre-paid Medical Assistance plans cover CTSS services.
